What You Need to Create a Free Business Email with Gmail & Cloudflare

To begin, you’ll need just a few things:

• A domain name (like yourdomain.com)
• A Cloudflare account (free)
• A Gmail account (to send emails via SMTP)

This method is tested and works smoothly in 2025.

Step 1: Add Your Domain to Cloudflare

If your domain is not already using Cloudflare, here’s how to do it:

1. Go to Cloudflare.com and create a free account.
2. Add your domain name.
3. Cloudflare will scan your current DNS records — just confirm and continue.
4. You’ll get new nameservers to set on your domain provider (e.g. Namecheap or GoDaddy).
5. Update those nameservers on your domain dashboard.

Once Cloudflare sees your nameservers updated (usually takes a few minutes to 1 hour), your domain will be active.

2. Click on Security in the left sidebar.
3. Under “Signing in to Google”, make sure 2-Step Verification is turned ON.

7. Under “Select device”, choose Other (Custom name) and type something like SMTP for Business Email.
8. Click Generate.

Google will now give you a 16-character password. Copy this and save it.
